Motzkin Ceasing Operations
In a move that surprised no one, Hapoel Haifa Motzkin announced the team will cease operations at the end of the season.
Sigh of relief in Raanana
Raanana Hertzeliya creeped into the playoffs. After grinding it out for 3 quarters Raanana Hertzeliya blew up the lead in the 4th and got an 83-62 win over Haifa Motzkin. The win clinched the 6th and final playoff ticket.
Down For The Count
Nobody's really talking about it, we're used to hearing about Hapoel Haifa Motzkin's problems, they start each season with a cloud of question marks hovering above. This year things got off to a rocky start, then stabilized a bit before the Christmas break sent the team into a downward spiral. Only one of the 3 new players actually played so far and she has no idea if she's playing in the next game. We're sick of seeing Motzkin show up with 5.5 players and letting it slide, it's time to ask the difficult questions.
Ramat Hen survived Motzkin's comeback
Two of the not so new anymore players again stayed in street clothes on the bench, the 3rd one entered the game only 3 minutes after it's delayed start since she didn't get approved in time. Motzkin's very short lineup of players ignored the chaos around the team and made an unbelievable comeback from 20 points down at the half before losing 104 – 99.
Motzkin signed Evelina Guneva
Hapoel Haifa Motzkin signed 26-year old forward Evelina Guneva, member of the Bulgarian national team.
Troina leaves Haifa Motzkin
Tatyana Troina, Hapoel Haifa Motzkin's excellent bosman, informed the team that she too will not be back after the break. Troina received an offer from Gdynia (Poland), who also play in the EuroLeague, and signed with them for the reminder of the season.
Mills & Williams out, James & Terry in
Haifa Motzkin's Americans, Tausha Mills and Angelina Williams, will not be back after the holiday break. Mills signed a big contract in Poland, but Motzkin has already found two young replacements from the WNBA: Tamara James, the gifted scorer from the Washington Mystics, and Kasha Terry, a relatively unknown forward who is basically the complete opposite of Mills.
