Israel bounced back from a 16-point deficit after scoring only 14 points until the break, but bad calls and Zizis gave Greece the 67-61 win and the ticket to the Elite 8.
Israel finish the European Championship with a 2-2 record and places 9-12, after a devestating loss to Greece, 67-61.
Israel scored only 6 points in the first quarter, and until the half, they had more turnovers (15!) than points, as Greece led 25-14.
5 straight three-pointers, good minutes by Green down low and new energy from Halperin put Israel within 4, but Zisis was just terrific and gave Greece a 49-41 lead.
Green had to leave with back problems, but Markovich was just as good. Mizrachi with some terrific minutes on both ends and Halperin with two huge three's got Israel to a 3-point deficit, but Kakiouzis answerred with a big three on the other end, and after Burstein's 8th turnover of the game, Barcelona's new player dunked Israel hopes down the drain.
Green was Israel's only double-digit scorer with 11, Markovich and Halperin added 9 each, Tapiro and Mizrahi 8 each, Burstein 6. Zisis led the winners with 23 points and 6 assists, Papadopolous added 19 points and 10 boards.
