Round 2: Ashdod Hosts The Champs
Orli Klinger ,10/24/2009
After a pretty crazy first round, the madness coninutes with a very interesting match up between Ashdod and Ramat Hasharon. Raanana Hertzeliya will host Natanya in another toss up, elsewhere Ramla will visit Jerusalem and Holon will travel to Hapoel's new home.

Maccabi Ashdod - Electra Ramat Hasharon, 7pm live on channel 55
Ashdod was upset last week and has no time to recover. Ramat Hasharon this week, Ramla waiting next week. Still, for the first time ever it seems like Ashdod is reaching a Ramat Hasharon game as the favortie. Not that Ramat Hasharon cares that much.

The defending champs are coming off a comfortable home opener against Jerusalem where they clicked on all levels. Against Ashdod Ramat Hasharon faces a match up problem in the paint, since Kia Vaughn is really the only true post player going up against Courtney Paris and Ashley Walker. Ambrosia Anderson will have to prove her verticle can make up the lack of size and help out on the boards.

It will also be interesting to see how Ashdod's backcourt of Natasha Lacy & Shiran Zairy will handle the pressure Laine Selwyn, plus the endless guards collection Ramat Hasharon has, can put on the ball.

Raanana Hertzeliya - Elizur Natanya, 7pm
Youth meets experience in this one. One week after shocking Ashdod on the road, Raanana Hertzeliya returns home for an interesing game with Natanya. Raanana Hertzeliya can be pleased that two key things worked for them last week, that is Kristi Toliver's clutch moves and Olyainka Sanni's great performance as the only post.

Natanya on the other hand lost last week 74-80 at Ramat Hen on a night when Monique Coker scored just 8 points and Okeisha Howard got a bit of a lesson from Shannon Bobbit.

Favorite? Tough to say, probably Natanya due to their experience but hey, that didn't help Ashdod last week.

Jerusalem - Ramla, 7pm
Jerusalem showed some potential last week despite losing by 18 at Ramat Hasharon. Ramla showed it still has a long way to go to reach it's potential and nearly lost at home to Hapoel Tel Aviv. Still, Deanna Jackson and Ashley Paris should make sure Ramla cruises past this one.

Hapoel Tel Aviv - Holon, 7pm
First home game for Hapoel in their new home, Yad Mordechai, and we're all waiting to see if they really get 600-700 fans. Whoever does show up, should be treated to an interesing and wide open game. Hapoel should feel good about nearly beating Ramla, Holon on the other hand struggled to put Tel Kabir away.

Tel Kabir - Ramat Hen, 18:30
If Tel Kabir's first win comes this early, the "no easy games" theory will become a fact. Ramat Hen is not supposed to let that happen, not with the fire poweer Tiffany Jackson & Careen Gay should bring against Tel Kabir's lone post.
