First Title for Ashdod

Triple double by Natasha Lacy who picked up the MVP award along with a good all-around game by all of her teammates lifted Ashdod to an 84-82 win in the “Winner” Cup tournament final. Ashdod led for most of the game but Ramla with a lot of character never gave up.

Ramla 82 – Ashdod 84
Ramla made the first run with an 11-0 spurt to go up 14-6 but Ashley Walker and Natasaha Lacy helped Ashdod recover, score tied at 22 after 1. The game stayed close but Ashdod held on to a small lead, Lacy had 9 assists at the half and hit a ¾ quarter court shot at the buzzer to make it 48-43.

Ashdod was hitting on all cylinders in the 3rd and built a 64-50 lead. Ramla did some damage control and trailed 56-65 after 3. It was a 70-58 game early in the 4th but as Noelle Quinn (4 points in 1st half) woke up Ramla got within 78-79 with under 2 minutes to go. Ashdod got the ball inside on offense and used fouls wisely on defense to hang on to the win.

Holon won the 3rd place game. Rashanda McCants with 23 points and Tamara Ransburg with 19 led the winners. Ambrosia Anderson had 17 and Sheri Sam added 16 for Ramat Hasharon.
